Women’s Self Defense Course

Tuesday, November 14, 2017

Join us on November 14th from 6-8PM for dinner and a self-defense course facilitated by Corporal Jessica Van with the Gainesville Police Department.

This women’s self-defense course covers basic tactics when dealing with a possible threat. As women, we are perceived as weak; therefore, we tend to become prey in a situation. The course is considered an eye-opener for most. We should always have the mentality that these situations can happen to us at all times.

Corporal Van will cover the 3 types of contact you would have with a perpetrator: Visual, Verbal and Physical (VVP). She’ll go into detail about the 3 types of contact, which constitutes about 20% of the course. The rest of the class is hands-on. Corporal Van will teach us how to protect ourselves using various martial arts techniques that are most practical in real world situations.
